Please send us your photos so we can show how lucky our dogs are
to have found such wonderful homes as yours!
Hard to imagine, but all of these doggies were doomed to die in the shelters!
CuddlyCanines@aol.com

Cuddles
Adopted January 2008
Cuddles is one of those dogs that simply had to be saved from the shelter!
About 100 years old & hardly any teeth, this little fellow somehow ended up in an extremely high-kill shelter, perhaps after his owner died & no one else wanted to take care of him.  Shoved in a cage with a bunch of bouncy, young dogs & with no chance of being adopted because of his age, we just had to get Cuddles out of there!
  He is now living
a wonderful life with someone who absolutely adores him & takes excellent care of him.
March 31, 2009
We just got the sad new that Cuddles passed away.
He was a special little boy who lived up to his name.

Lucky aka Jack
Adopted April 2005 (wow, has it been that long!)
Lucky came to Cuddly Canines after he was tossed out a car window in
the middle of a busy street.  Look at him smiling now!

Halloween 2006. Jack in Yoda costume by carlton.momjian.
Jack (or is it Yoda!!)

Eric
Adopted 6 years ago!
What a great life this older little boy had!  Eric very sadly passed
away in June, but he had a fabulous family for his last 6 years.

Kaya
Adopted May 2008
Kaya was a special needs gal who we pulled off of death row.
She was adopted by a guardian angel who has taken care of Kaya's
every medical need & treats her like the queen she was meant to be!
April 4th
Kaya sadly crossed the rainbow bridge & will be truly missed!

Believe it or not, Coco's mommy
was a Chihuahua!

Yep, they are bro & sis, now two of the most loved & spoiled dogs on the planet

Fennigan
Enjoying the good life with his "sister" Noe!

Sir Walter Raleigh aka Chunk
adopted as a baby March 2008
This not-so-little 110 pound handsome boy was born a teeny tiny little thing, one of ten survivors
in a litter of what seemed to be 101 Shepherds.
His mommy reports that he loves lounging on the sofa,
although he takes up the entire thing, and someone along the way whispered in his ear that
it's perfectly normal for a 110 pounder to be a lap dog.

Moose aka Peeps
adopted as a baby March 2008
Moose is Sir Walter Raleigh's brother!  And they certainly look a like!  When
Moose's mom saw SWR's photo on the Happy Tails page, she sent us some
photos of Moose & asked if she could get in touch with SWR's family.
They wasted no time in getting together!  They look like twins!

Samson
Adopted June 2008
A true rags-to-riches story.  Found by one of our volunteers with a rope around his neck which was tied to a railroad track, Samson was a mess!  He had to be shaved down & it was discovered that
bottle caps & matchsticks were deeply embedded in his hair.  He had a limp due to foxtails in
his feet (as well as his ears & a few other places).  We got him all fixed up & look at what a fabulous life he has now with
his family!

Maisie
Adopted as a baby May 2007
Maisie & her siblings were some of the most unusual pups we had ever seen, brindle
shaggy terriers!  Maisie has grown into a beautiful young lady & her family adores
her!  Look at the smile on her face!

Lulu aka Lita
Adopted April 2008
One of our mommy dogs!  We are always thrilled
beyond belief when the mommy dogs get homes!
And what a great home this lucky girl has!

A scared little dog who has truly blossomed from
the love in her new home!

Woodie aka Brownie
adopted Fall 2007
Woodie came to us as an older pup from a very high kill shelter, and
went to a family who spoils him
rotten.  In the photo on the right,
Woodie tried to deny that
he rummaged in the kitchen
garbage can, but the flour-covered
face tells a different story.  Too funny!

Faith
Adopted as a baby September 2002
Faith's "mommy & daddy" are a Cuddly Canines foster home, so Faith gets to
play big sister to all the puppies they foster......and she loves the babies!

One of our fabulous mommy dogs!
Abbi's family boasts that she is the most
perfect dog in the world!

Pixie is sharing her life with a big dog named Marley (yep!) & Betty the Beagle, as well as a few horses!
What a fun life for this little girl!

Stubrick
adopted as a baby September 2008
Stubrick has quite a story!  Born in a very high kill shelter to a Lab mix mommy, who
didn't know how to be a mommy, so she stomped all of the puppies to death, all except
Stubrick!  We rushed to his rescue, bottle fed him, ended up amputating part of his tail
thanks to mommy's damage..........but look at him now!  He has been adopted into
a wonderful family & is now a total beach bum!  What a happy ending for this pup!

Sobe aka Petey
Adopted July 2007
Having a blast with his "brother", Snapple, Sobe is living a great life near Lake Tahoe.

Sweetie
adopted March 2007
Sweetie was a dog who went into a foster home & never left!
She came to us from a high kill shelter, with her tummy full of babies, and went into a fabulous foster home, where
her babies were born & loved & adopted out.  Her foster family fell head over heels in love with Sweetie & that was the end of
her search for a permanent home!  We are always beyond thrilled when the sometimes forgotten mommy dogs find such
fabulous homes!

Stitchie Marie aka Scarlett
adopted as a baby July 2007
What a beauty queen this little baby has grown into!

Gunnar aka Watty
adopted as a baby June 2004
Gunnar is a true rags-to-riches success story.  In April 2004, we were contacted by an employee of the Department of
Water & Power (in the Watts area of LA) about a mommy dog who had given birth next to a dumpster on a massive gravel lot full of tall, dangerous power transformers.  She had been tossing food to the mommy dog, but was very worried about the puppies, so she called us.  We were unable to catch the mommy dog, but we got the babies, who were 3 weeks old at the time.  Gunnar is one of those babies!  Adopted to a wonderful family in San Diego, he has been involved in agility training for 3-1/3 years, and recently received his NATCH title, which is very high on the list of elite titles for agility.  He is currently in training to be a search & rescue dog!  What a success!
From dumpster to an absolutely dynamic dog!

Gumbo aka Otis
Adopted as a baby December 2008
One of our bouncing babies, who loves to snuggle & cuddle, just as much as he loves to play!
What a cutie!

Ruby and Cooper
Adopted as babies September 2002
Ruby and Coop are bro & sis to Faith, pictured above.  While Faith is still a Southern California gal, Ruby & Coop
have moved to Houston, Texas!  Wonder if they bark with a Texas twang?

Maija aka Casey
Casey was a pup who was born with part of her leg bone missing & we were preparing her for amputation,
however, some strange miracle occured & her leg healed itself!  Amazing!  She & her family have said goodbye to Southern California & are now living a fabulous life in Washington state.

Vindaloo aka Taffy
Another one of our fabulous mommy dogs!  She came to us a smelly mess, with 4 tiny babies!
Adopted by a wonderful family who needed a dog that was good with cats!  Not a problem there!

Tyke
We rescued Tyke from the shelter euthanasia list.........he was so scared, he wouldn't even
raise his head in the shelter.  Adopted into a wonderful home, Tyke has really come out
of his shell & is such a happy little boy now!

Deja aka Maggie
Adopted as a baby May 2007
So happy with her human sister & canine brother!

Boomer
Adopted as a baby December 2008
Boomer was adopted to a family who had been searching for just the right pup for a very long time!
Looks like a match made in heaven!

Mirabelle
Adopted a baby June 2007
Mirabelle has such a happy ending.  She ended up in the shelter with her mommy, a purebred
German Shepherd, who was rescued by another group but ended up dying during spay.  We took Mirabelle. She was scared out of her wits, but started to warm up in her foster home.......and blossomed into a completely new dog when she was adopted into her forever family.

Izzy
Adopted as a baby November 2008
Not only did Izzy ace her obedience class, she took top honors for best doggie trick!  Beauty & brains!
When Izzy isn't busy trying on the latest fashions or texting on her Blackberry, she can usually be found
strolling the sidewalk cafes or popping into the doggie bakery for some tasty treats.  Her down time is
spent gossiping & lounging with her 2 furry feline sisters.

Maddie & Murphy
adopted as babies December 2006
This brother-sister duo are living proof that you don't need to "get rid of the dogs" when a baby comes along!
Sadly, many dogs end up in the shelter for that very reason, but these 2 dogs are a very important part of
a growing family!
Maddie & Murphy absolutely adore their baby sister!  Such lucky dogs!

Bosco aka Latte
Bosco is Abby's baby boy!  He was the only white pup in the litter & he had a very rough beginning, there were times
when we didn't think he would make it!  Well.........he made & was adopted into a fabulous forever home!

Shiloe aka Lola
adopted as a baby February 2009
This little girl had a rough start, but thanks to 2 very caring parents & a great vet,
she is thriving!  It looks like they may have overdosed her on ear-growth
medicine!  Too cute!

TRIPLE HEADER!
The oldest if Kona aka Zeus from Lovable Labs adopted Feb 2007.  Kody aka Zoey adopted April 2008. Elly aka Peanut - one of Abby's babies (and Bosco/Latte's sister) adopted Nov 2008
What a lovely trio!

Duffy aka Rainbow
Adopted as a baby April 2008
Duffy is an equal-opportunity lovebug, as you can see from the photos!  He is also famous!  He & his 2-legged sisters
are pictured in a book called Puppy Love by Liz Palika!  Let's hope he remembers us when he gets to Hollywood!

Scarlett (pictured with big sis Annie)
Adopted December 2008
Scarlett was rescued from a very high-kill shelter & we took her to an adoption event in
Irvine, but she wasn't adopted, however, someone offered to be her foster mommy
until Scarlett could find a permanent home.  Her foster
family fell in love with her & that was the end of that!

Kovu aka Spencer
adopted as a baby September 2007
Kovu is all grown up now & what a handsome boy he turned out to be!  And so lucky to have a family
that loves him like he deserves!

Boo aka Polly
Boo is a true success story.  She was one of our mommy dogs & she basically came to us feral.  We rescued her from the dreadful Carson Shelter, where she was huddled in the corner of a concrete dog run, with a tummy full of babies.
She was with us for an entire year after her babies were adopted, but we refused to give up on her.  Then a guardian angel showed
up & adopted her!  Mommy Rachel & Boo are now inseparable!

Hobbs aka Jack
adopted as a baby April 2007
Hobbs is one of Polly's (above) baby boys!  Looks like someone is a bit on the
spoiled side!  We love seeing pictures like this!

Zoe aka Hope
adopted as a baby January 2008
Zoe was a tiny little thing when she was adopted at 2 months old, but has grown
into an 82 pound beauty who happily welcomed a 2-legged brother named Jack
in January 2009!  Congratulations!  We also hear that Zoe still thinks she's a lap dog!

Alphie
adopted March 2009
This photo was taken the day Alphie was adopted & as you can see, he moved right in & made himself at home.  Just look at the smile on his face!

Joey and Hagrid
adopted as babies!
Joey was adopted as a baby 100 years ago, Hagrid probably 50, back when we were a tiny little group.  Actually, mommy Meghan & daddy Carl were our very first foster parents!  They have since added some 2-legged critters to the mix!

Tex aka Wrangler
adopted as a baby October 2005
Tex was one of our orphaned baby boys, who came to us as a tiny baby without a mommy.
Needless to day, he has thrived & has since been joined by two 2-legged sisters who
he loves running on the sand with!

Believe it or not, mommy was a
Golden Retriever mix!

Enjoying some quiet time with his big sister Gretchen!

Bailey aka Charlie
adopted as a baby October 2008
Charlie is growing, and so are his ears!  What a cutie!

Gracie aka Fiona
adopted August 2008
Gracie is a real-life beauty queen!  She was picked to be one of the five finalists on The View's
"Westminster Mutt" Show, however, that meant traveling to New York in baggage & her mommy
wouldn't risk it.  We don't blame her!  Gracie is still a winner in our hearts!

Lily aka Narnia
adopted February 2008
Lily was a shy little girl, too scared to even move in the shelter,
but we could see the life in her eyes, so we saved her!  This
sweet gal was adopted into a wonderful home where she
is queen of the casa!

Dante aka Louis
adopted as a baby June 2004

Merlin                       Licorice
adopted April 2007             adopted May 2008

Dante was rescued as a tiny fluffy baby, and has grown into a
beauty queen (he thinks he's a girl!).  Merlin was rescued from a high-kill
shelter where he was dumped because his family thought he was too old (4 years old!!!)
And Licorice was rescued as a tiny baby & has grown into a ????
All 3 are part of the Cuddly Canine family, adopted by one of our long time foster homes!

Anni & Dora
adopted October 2008
These baby girls are sisters & were rescued as tiny orphaned babies along with the rest of their siblings.  Anni & Dora were NOT adopted together, but a chance meeting at the dog beach & a conversation between
the families led them to discover they are sisters!  They took up right where they left off when
they were separated at 2 months of age!  It's a small world after all!

Daisy

she was a typical toddler, with selective hearing.  Gypsy's family says she
is extremely smart & has a blast doing agility for fun!

Duke
adopted September 2007
We had Duke for awhile before he found a home, but the wait paid off............Duke was lucky enough to find
the perfect forever family, which includes Maui the cat!

Sierra aka Lilah
adopted as a baby May 2004
Sierra is Dante's sister & look what a fabulous home she has!
Two kids to fawn over her & a lazy cat to hang out with!

Delta and Dixie

Most of our pups come out looking nothing like their mother, but Dixie is an exact replica of mommy dog, Snowbell!
These sisters hit the jackpot with their new home..........they love going to the spa for primping & preening!

back to Cuddly Canines!
